The month of February tends to get swallowed up by that one particular holiday focused on the lovey-dovey stuff. I’m a pretty big fan of love myself, but I’m setting aside the pink and red heart shaped confections to talk about a dish that I’m really loving this week! It’s been a roller coaster of a week. Earlier I shared about my recent myopic macular degeneration diagnosis, and it’s been a pretty tough week trying to wrap my head around the risk of losing even more of my vision. The Lord has made himself very clear that I am not to allow doubt, fear and dread steal the joy of the promises the Lord has already made for me, and the best thing I can do is to align myself with His word and to keep pressing on and enjoy the life He’s given me with the talents he’s blessed me with.

We’ve turned the page on a brand new year, and many of us across the country are still scratching our heads and and praying that VBS will be happening this year. Having a year where VBS didn’t happen left so many of us feeling a little down, but Group VBS (the masterminds behind 2020’s Rocky Railway theme) recently announced their theme for this summer, and it has us all ready to dig deep and uncover the precious truth that God’s greatest treasure isn’t gold or silver, it’s us – His children!

Treasured is an action packed week long curriculum that takes us on an epic quest deep into the jungle, through ancient ruins and into hidden caves to uncover that we are God’s greatest treasure of all, and He wants us to seek Him and have a relationship with Him because He loves us! Children will discover amazing truths as they trek through the Imagination Station, Jungle Gym Games, Kid Vid Cinema and a dining experience at the Vine Dining snack station.

After your VBS has come to an end, please reach out to a fellow church in your area to see if they could use your leftover VBS supplies. Many churches (often small congregations) elect to not have a VBS because funding is too tight. Just think about all of the additional children that could be presented with the gospel because donated decor made VBS at a church possible!

I’ve noticed a growing trend over the last few years of people designating a word to focus on when the new year rolls in. For 2020, the word I’ve chosen to focus on is wellness. My goal is to regain strength and establish wellness physically, spiritually and emotionally. Each year I create a vision board with my dreams and goals on it and hang it on the wall where I can see and review it daily. I’m a very visual person, and getting to physically check off items on my list gives me a monumental feeling of achievement that I’ve grown to crave. One of the biggest ways I’m channeling wellness into my day to day life is by making simple swaps that help keep me on track.
