Keeping things simple with a smidge of Southern charm
Does it seem like 2017 is flying by crazy fast to anyone else? I’m still in shock that school is about to start in just a few days. Even though it’s going to be hot and humid here in south Alabama for at least 2 1/2 more months, my mind is already starting to switch gears and get into Fall-frenzy mode!

It’s been almost 10 years since I first started daydreaming about what my college dorm room would look like. I vividly remember collecting Seventeen and Pottery Barn Teen magazines and clipping out my favorite decor finds during my senior year of high school. I had a 3-ring binder where I would keep all of the clippings, and I would save up every penny I could to put towards cute things for my future dorm room. Honestly, I think I was way more excited about decorating my room than attending my first day of classes!

Our home building project is trucking right along, and we’re hoping to have it move-in ready around September of this year. The thought of packing up my current house and moving into our dream home in just 3 months has been sending me into a whirlwind of emotions! All of the excitement and anxiousness I’ve been feeling has been stirring up an imaginary mood board in my mind of how I’ll style each room. Earlier this week I began to think about storage solutions for our home.
It’s important to me that any sort of storage solution that will be left visible matches my home decor and doesn’t look like ordinary storage bins. Just last week I posted a roundup of a few of my favorite Farmhouse-style decor pieces to spruce up an office space (Farmhouse Finds for the Office). It’s been a really big inspiration for me as I’ve been busy planning the layout and overall design theme of my office space in the home that we’re building.

Once the Christmas decor is taken down from the shelves in stores, heart shaped boxes of chocolate, stuffed animals and candy hearts immediately start taking their place in preparation for Valentine’s Day! I’ve never been one to decorate much for Valentine’s Day, but it’s mostly because I’ve never found much Valentine-y decor that I actually liked.
