Does it seem like 2017 is flying by crazy fast to anyone else? I’m still in shock that school is about to start in just a few days. Even though it’s going to be hot and humid here in south Alabama for at least 2 1/2 more months, my mind is already starting to switch gears and get into Fall-frenzy mode!

The school season may be quickly approaching, but I’m still holding on to this summer for as long as I can! One of my favorite growing trends this summer is off the shoulder seersucker dresses. Seersucker is such a classic and timeless print, and I’ve been seeing lots of pale blue pinstripe prints popping up everywhere!

They say a first impression is everything, and that’s especially true when you visit a restaurant for the first time. I don’t remember a whole lot about my first visit to many restaurants, but I vividly remember my first time ever eating at Moe’s Southwest Grill. I was a young teenager, and older brother took my family out to eat there when we were visiting him at college. At that time, Moe’s was not local to us, so it was a treat to get to eat somewhere new.
When we walked in, we were immediately greeted with an enthusiastic chant of “Welcome to Moe’s” from the staff, and the atmosphere in the entire room was lively and modern. There was a pretty good crowd dining in, and judging by the looks on the patron’s faces, I knew I was going to be in for something really good.

I was in the fourth grade when I first noticed my vision decreasing. I remember struggling to see the numbers and letters that my teacher would write on the board, so my mother took me to have my eyes examined and fit for glasses. I remember the first time I ever put them on. I felt unsure as to if my friends at school would be accepting of my new specs, and I was so nervous that they would make fun of me for having to wear them. I just knew my tender heart would melt into a puddle on the floor if anyone ever called me four-eyes or told me I was a nerd for wearing glasses.

Parents – throw those hands up in the air (and wave ’em like ya just don’t care) if you currently deal with or have ever dealt with a picky toddler who loves to give you a run for your money when it comes to actually eating something with nutritional value during the day. I can’t tell you how many times I’m left baffled and shrugging my shoulders trying to crack the super secret code to get my toddler to actually eat the food that I prepare for her and NOT solely eat graham crackers and Goldfish. The struggle is real, y’all!
I was that mom when my baby was starting solids when she was 6 months old. You know, the one who makes all of the baby food from scratch, only uses organic fruits and veggies in the purees and swears that introducing a unique array of foods to the baby while they’re young will make them develop a taste for healthy foods for the rest of their life – including the toddler years.

During the fall of 2008, I nervously went through sorority recruitment at Troy University as a freshman and visited 5 different panhellenic organizations that were represented on campus. Going through sorority recruitment can be a bit overwhelming to a young girl who has very little knowledge of what a sorority is and how it can be a beneficial part of her college experience, but it truly opened my eyes to see how young women can come together with a common bond and a common goal to better their community, better themselves and better the lives of others.
At the end of a long recruitment week, I had absolutely no doubt what house I belonged to. After seeing how the active sisters communicated with each other, after learning more about the philanthropic activities and the focus on academics over social obligations, my heart was gravitating towards Chi Omega. I attended preference night to two different sororities, and underneath my dress I wore an owl pendant over my heart – knowing that a Chi Omega was where I truly belonged! The next morning, I opened my bid card and ran straight to the house where I’d spend the next 4 years making some of the best memories that I’ll always cherish. I pledged my loyalty to the Chi Omega sisterhood in August of 2008, and my heart still beats cardinal and straw to this very day!

It’s been almost 10 years since I first started daydreaming about what my college dorm room would look like. I vividly remember collecting Seventeen and Pottery Barn Teen magazines and clipping out my favorite decor finds during my senior year of high school. I had a 3-ring binder where I would keep all of the clippings, and I would save up every penny I could to put towards cute things for my future dorm room. Honestly, I think I was way more excited about decorating my room than attending my first day of classes!

Our home building project is trucking right along, and we’re hoping to have it move-in ready around September of this year. The thought of packing up my current house and moving into our dream home in just 3 months has been sending me into a whirlwind of emotions! All of the excitement and anxiousness I’ve been feeling has been stirring up an imaginary mood board in my mind of how I’ll style each room. Earlier this week I began to think about storage solutions for our home.

There’s no doubt about it – my little one absolutely loves being outside. I believe she would run around and play out in the sun all day long if i’d let her. She had to have gotten that from her father, because I don’t have an outdoorsy gene in my whole entire body. I am an air conditioner enthusiast and I love nothing more than to kick off my shoes and run my toes through the soft, plush carpet. Just being honest, y’all! 😉
