When I was 13 years old, I packed my bags and boarded a plane with 30 other teenagers and 4 adults and headed straight for Europe. I spent nearly an entire month exploring England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It was absolutely the trip of a lifetime, and I still have many friends from that trip that I keep in contact with. One of the most special instances during that trip was spending my 14th birthday walking down O’Connell street, shopping at all sorts of little fun stores and boutiques. It was a blast! I especially loved being able to see Ireland with my own eyes and experience their culture and learn much about their history.
I think one of the first things people think about when they think of Ireland is St. Patrick’s Day. St. Patrick’s Day is a global celebration of Irish culture, with particular emphasis on the patron saint, St. Patrick, who spent his life ministering to the nation and assisted in bringing Christianity to the people in the 5th century.
While there’s so much more to Irish culture than celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, it’s a great place to start when learning and teaching children about Ireland. In fact, St. Patrick’s Day is coming up pretty soon – March 17th to be exact. If you’re planning on celebrating with children, why not whip up a batch of these super easy chocolate dipped sugar wafers to celebrate the occasion?!

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE THESE EASY VALENTINE’S DAY STRAWBERRY SUGAR WAFERS:
- 1 Package Green Candy Melts (You can also find these at Walmart in the craft section)
- 1 Package Vanilla Sugar Wafers
- Assorted Sprinkles –> (I used this kind)
DIRECTIONS:
Melt about half of the package of candy melts according to package instructions. Lay out a sheet of parchment paper and dip each wafer into the chocolate. Place the dipped wafers on the parchment paper and immediately decorate with sprinkles. Allow to dry for a few minutes. Once dry, immediately place in an air tight container so that the wafers don’t get stale. Enjoy!
