These easy Football Sugar Wafers are a fun and simple snack idea to make your game day extra sweet!
Not to be that person, BUT my handy dandy “How Many Days Until Kickoff” tracker just informed me that there’s only 45 days until the Alabama Crimson Tide rolls in, and my daughter and I have been overflowing with excitement and doing a little happy dance all morning!
My little one is only 2, but she understands the seriousness of our love for football. She was born into a family full of Alabama fans, so her Saturday’s will be packed with houndstooth, food and fun once the season is finally here.
To help get us in the spirit, I plundered through my pantry to see what quick and easy treat I could come up with that would make for a really fun game day snack. My family loves those sweet little sugar wafers, and I thought they’d be perfect to dip in chocolate and turn into a little football party hors d’oeuvre.
Here’s what you’ll need to make these little chocolate football wafers:
Chocolate Sugar Wafers (I do NOT recommend Great Value brand)
Chocolate Candy Melts OR Milk or Dark Chocolate Semisweet Morsels
White Gel Frosting for the laces
Just melt the chocolate according to package instructions. Dip half of a chocolate wafer into the melted chocolate and lay flat to dry on a piece of wax paper. Once dried, draw laces onto wafers with white gel icing. Store in an air tight container until they’re ready to be eaten, as wafers can get stale if left out for too long.
If you’ll be headed out to lots of tailgate parties this fall, or if you’re throwing a football viewing party from your own home, these Football Sugar Wafers are sure to be the real MVP of the season!
