Some people love the holidays for the the presents and gift-giving. Others like it for the lights, carols, ribbons, bows, reindeer games and jolly plump men in Santa suits. And sure, all of those things are some pretty fabulous elements of this special season, but there’s something that really warms my soul more than anything else during this time of year. For me, it’s the people. I love to visit folks. I love to be surrounded by family, friends, love and laughter. I love to entertain. I love to serve. I find my joy in being with others, and everybody knows that when there’s a group of people gathered, there’s a spread of delicious food nearby waiting to be surrounded by others, too.
In just a few days, all of the ladies at my church will be gathering together for our annual Christmas party. We’ll play a round of “Dirty Santa,” exchange gifts, play games and nibble on our favorite holiday finger foods that each of us brought to share. This year I’m bringing a special guest to the party that’s sure to spread lots of cheer and keep us all grinning from ear to ear! 😉
This simple holiday snowman cheeseball is so easy to put together, and only requires a few ingredients. Just serve it up with a plate full of RITZ Crackers and you’ve got a real treat!
So to stock up my pantry for the holidays, I headed out to Walmart to pick up everything I needed in one shopping trip. After I picked up the ingredients for the snowman cheeseball, I turned the corner down the chips/crackers aisle to pick up a few packages of RITZ Crackers. As I was pushing my shopping cart, I nearly stopped completely in my tracks when I got to the end of it. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but an entire shelf FILLED with RITZ Crackers cheer! Look at all of those beautiful golden nuggets of deliciousness! I guess Walmart was gearing up for the holidays, too! 😉

Once I returned home, I was ready to make my jolly little snowman friend and all of it’s cheesy goodness! This recipe calls for 2 packages of cream cheese, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, 1 packet of dry ranch mix and some shredded mozzarella cheese for coating. I let the cream cheese soften a bit and added the cheddar cheese and ranch mix in a large bowl. I combined the ingredients using a hand mixer and divided the mixture into two portion – 1 being larger than the other.
I placed each portion of cheese mixture onto the center of some plastic wrap and twisted it close. I rolled the mixture around on the counter until it formed a nice round ball. I refrigerated the cheese for a little over an hour. Once I unwrapped each ball, I rolled it around in a bowl of mozzarella cheese to give it a “snowy” effect.
I added a few peppercorns and a small baby carrot to fill out his eyes, buttons and little nose. Isn’t he just the cutest little thing? I think it’s almost too cute to eat!

RITZ Crackers are the perfect compliment to any cheeseball appetizer. They’re so buttery and delicious, they’re almost a savory treat on their own! I always make sure to include a wreath of RITZ Crackers around the snowman any time I serve it to others. It’s like the icing on the cake to a perfect holiday appetizer!
