Have you ever had an encounter with a ‘nog hog? You can usually find them during the month of December lurking around the refrigerator and guarding the carton of eggnog like their life depends on it. They’re the people who get crazy excited when the holidays come around, simply because it means they can spend a portion of the money they’ve divvied for presents on that liquid gold beverage they love so much. I just so happen to come from a family full of ‘nog hogs, and I’ve even seen my own siblings scuffle over who was going to get the last swig of eggnog out of the carton during a family gathering. Ah, sweet memories! 😉When I stop and think about it, I can recall several memories created over the years during the holidays that center around sharing seasonal beverages with my friends and family. In fact, as I was shopping at my local Family Dollar earlier this week picking up a few stocking stuffers and household items, something really special caught my eye as I was turning a corner to go down another aisle. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a 6 pack of Coca-Cola limited edition glass bottles with Santa on the package…now that’s real holiday cheer! 😉
Coca-Cola is always on my shopping list during the holidays. It just seems to be one of those things that always brings everyone together to enjoy something delicious and create new memories. I can always count on Family Dollar to have it for a great price, too! (In fact, it’s where I’m doing a lot of my holiday shopping this year. Their selection of seasonal decor and gifts is awesome, and it’s all very affordable!) And can we all agree that Coca-Cola just tastes better when it comes out of a glass bottle with Santa Claus on it? Personally, I think they add a little magic dust in every bottle. 😉
So as I picked up a 6 pack of Coca-Cola and put it in my cart, I started thinking about all of these memories I’ve shared with my family and all of the memories that were going to be created this year. All of a sudden, I had the most delicious epiphany I’ve probably ever had pop right into my “noggin,” and I knew right away it was going to be a huge hit with my eggnog loving relatives.
I thought to myself: “What if I could combine the deliciousness of Coca-Cola with the sugary sweetness of eggnog and transform it into something out-of-this-world amazing?” So that’s exactly what I did, friends. I took the two and created Eggnog Ice Cream Coca-Cola floats, and they’ll knock the holiday socks right off of your feet!
I picked up a carton of eggnog, some heavy cream and ground nutmeg so that I could create my own eggnog ice cream. It’s really easy to make, and it tastes like an absolute dream. I just knew the eggnog flavor paired with Coca-Cola would be a match made in heaven! So once I got home from my shopping trip, I dragged out my ice cream churn and got busy working on my master plan.
Some of you may be thinking that it’s too cold during this time of year to enjoy ice cream, but I say phooey! Ice cream is soul food, y’all. It may not always be good for you, but it’s good for your soul, and it’s good all year long! 😉
If you have an ice cream churn at home, make sure you use it according to your machine’s instructions. You want to be very careful not to over churn the cream, as it will make the texture of the ice cream very sticky-feeling. (Scroll down to the bottom to find my exact recipe for eggnog ice cream!)
Once the ice cream was finished, I couldn’t wait any longer to try it out with a bottle of cold Coca-Cola. I put a few scoops into a glass jar and cracked open a bottle faster than a speeding bullet! I absolutely love the frothiness that forms when Coca-Cola is poured over a mound of ice cream. I’m pretty sure it’s what dreams are made out of! 😉
I added a swirl of whipped cream and a maraschino cherry right on top of the float, which was the perfect touch. Just as I had suspected, the flavor combination was absolutely outstanding! I love to have Coca-Cola floats all throughout the year, but adding in the eggnog made it one of the best floats I’ve ever had in my life. No comparison!
Once all of the siblings have gathered together again for the holidays this year, I’ll be sure to make another batch of this ice cream and take a 6 pack of Coca-Cola to share with them. It’ll be one more delicious thing for the ‘nog hogs to fight over (or make memories together, however you want to look at it!) 😉

Oh I am definitely one of these nog hogs of which you speak. 😉 This looks fantastic! I love a yummy Coca-Cola float but with egg nog. Wow. Decadent. {client}

Just tried egg nog with Coca Cola by accident. Had an empty egg nog carton that had the thick nog remnants sticking to the sides. Wanted to get the last nectar out of the carton so I washed out the carton with Coke and drank the mixed brew right out of the carton. Man, that’s good. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it. Learn somethin’ new every day, I guess.

This eggnog ice cream float sounds great. But when I make a Coke float, I like to keep stirring it until the ice cream melts and mixes with the Coke into kind of a slush. I figured, why not cut out the middle man, that is, not freeze the eggnog in the first place. I just mixed them together, testing for taste and adjusting the ratio of Coke to eggnog as necessary, and it is to die for! Works with Root Beer too.

Oooh! I like the way you think! I’ll give that a try. Knowing that eggnog pairs really well with the flavor of coke already, making it your way also sounds pretty darn delish!
