These Patriotic Marshmallow Pops are a quick and easy treat to make and eat to celebrate the Fourth of July or Memorial Day!
With the 4th of July quickly approaching, my daughter has been noticing lots of red, white and blue decor on display at local businesses and has been asking me quite a few questions about why they’re there, what our flag means and why we fly it. I love that she’s beginning to take notice of things like this, and it’s been great seeing the wheels turn in her head when I share tidbits of our beautiful nation’s history with her. Since she’s gradually beginning to understand what freedom is and why we celebrate it, I thought it would be fun to make a quick and easy dessert to kick off our weekend heading into the 4th of July week!
Marshmallow pops are the perfect for dessert for little hands to help prepare. You only need 3 ingredients to get the job done, and they can be made for any holiday or event! I’ve linked below all of the things you’ll need for this project – all of which you can easily find at your local grocery store!
I stumbled across a big box of paper straws from our local Dollar General, and they made for a perfect handle to use in our marshmallow pops. I simply added two marshmallows to the end of a straw, melted a little white chocolate in a bowl, dipped the tips of the marshmallows in and covered them with sprinkles. In just a handful of minutes, we had a fun little dessert that was perfect for both children and adults!
Here’s a little hack if you’re wondering how to get the chocolate on the marshmallows to dry without having to set them down on wax paper. I keep a piece of floral foam like this one on hand to hold the sticks upright while the chocolate dries. Just press them in and they hold their place!
After my daughter helped coat all of the marshmallows in sprinkles and let them dry, she was bouncing up and down at the thought of getting to sink her teeth into one. Unlike actual popsicles, these treats are perfect for running around the yard with as there is no melting and no mess! Plus, the straws can be reused to make another batch if desired!
