If you’ve ever traveled down to the Southern states (or even if you’ve lived here your entire life,) you may have noticed one crucial rule that rings true for almost all of us:
Football is king
Our love for the game is strong and deep, and our passion for cheering on our favorite teams has roots that grow deeper than an old oak tree. Football here is essentially a way of life, and we know there’s nothing in this world quite as exciting as cheering on our team to victory with our friends and family by our side.
That’s why I always make sure that whatever I prepare for our “football feast” is in a league of it’s own when it comes to flavor. I have so many memories of celebrating football victories with my friends and family, and 100% of them have involved delicious food in some way. In my opinion, watching a football game without fueling your tummy with something yummy is a crime worthy of a major penalty! I don’t want any flags thrown my way when it comes to our big game grub!
With all of these BIG bowl games going on, I decided to amp things up a bit and pack a punch of heat into one of my all-time favorite dishes to make: Alfredo Pizza
If you’ve followed Southern Made Simple for a while, you know I’m no stranger to throwing in a little heat in my recipes. My husband and I have a real hot tooth (that’s a thing, right?) and we love to satisfy it by adding a little El Yucateco® into our dishes on a regular basis.
Are you familiar with El Yucateco®? If not, get ready to meet your new BFF! It’s a #1 authentic habanero hot sauce that comes in a variety of awesome flavors. Just a dab of El Yucateco® will transform any recipe in a BIG way! And speaking of big, have you seen the AWESOME sweepstakes going on right now? El Yucateco® is giving entrants the chance to win one-of-a-kind tailgating and homegating packages and MORE! (See below)
#KingOfFlavorSweepstakes (Super Bowl)
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to make one of my favorite pizza dishes for my family to enjoy while watching the bowl games on TV. As much as a love a traditional pizza, I love to make an alfredo sauce pizza even more. But because our team is scoring major points on the field this year, I wanted my pizza to be scoring big with my family, too. I knew I needed to amplify the flavors just a bit, so I thought I’d fuse my favorite Italian cuisine with a little habanero magic that only El Yucateco® could provide!
When I headed out to my favorite supermarket to pick up all of the ingredients I needed to make my Spicy Habanero Alfredo Pizza, I swung by the international aisle to pick up a bottle of El Yucateco® Red Habanero Hot Sauce (and a bottle of Green Habanero Sauce, too!) You can find the product an multiple retailers nation wide, but I did my shopping at Publix! I skip over other sauces and head straight for the El Yucateco every time because it’s handcrafted to deliver the best favor with just the right amount of heat, and the habaneros are picked straight from their own fields. It’s also made with far less vinegar than traditional hot sauces, so you really get more of that peppery flavor shining through. It makes a perfect all purpose sauce! Must be why it’s a #1 consumer choice! 😉
During the entire trip back home from the grocery store, I was daydreaming about making this pizza, y’all. I was literally drooling at the thought of making a classic alfredo sauce transform into something scrumptiously spicy and flavorful! Once I got home, I immediately unpacked all of the ingredients I needed and put my game face on in preparation to make this pizza.
The first step was tackling the dough and molding it to fit the shape of my pizza pan. Dough can be so tricky to work with sometimes! I picked up a fresh package of pizza dough from the bakery at my grocery store, but you can certainly use a canned variety. I kneaded the dough and stretched it to fit the pan. I then took a fork and docked the dough (poked several holes all throughout) to prevent it from bubbling up while baking.
Next, I sauteed a little garlic in some butter and added in the heavy whipping cream, Parmesean cheese and 2 Tbs of El Yucateco® hot sauce. I let it simmer just long enough to form a thickened sauce. Once the sauce was ready, I poured it onto the dough and added a layer of mozzarella cheese and all of my favorite pizza toppings. You can find the full recipe listed here:

One of the best things about making a pizza is that there’s really no wrong way to do it. You can personalize a pizza with any and all of your favorite toppings to make a winning combination, and adding a smidge of El Yucateco® habanero sauce is the best way to spice things up for hungry football fans that like to feel the heat and savor the flavor!
Once I pulled the pizza out of the oven and took that first bite (after it cooled down a little, of course,) I felt like doing a victory dance right there in my kitchen! It had me movin’ and groovin’ like I was running the ball all the way into the end zone for a touchdown, y’all. It was SO good! Our team is gearing up to play in a major bowl game coming up very soon, and this Spicy Habanero Alfredo Pizza will be the real MVP of the game time snack spread! 😉

One of my favorites, bbq pork ribs. #KingOfFlavorSweepstakes
You can also use a flour tortilla as a crust. Or two stacked with some cheese in between the layers.
I like that idea! Thanks for sharing!
We love hot wings!
I would add this in my chili to make it spicy. #kingofflavorsweepstakes
