Ah, my sweet, sweet friend. How much do I love thee? Let me count the ways! I haven’t always been a coffee drinker if you want to know the truth. In fact, pretty much the first 25 years of my life were coffee-less. I like to refer to those years as “the lost years.”
No, it wasn’t until I actually became a parent that coffee made it’s grand entrance into my life, and since that time we’ve bonded together like long lost best friends. It started out as a casual friendship (my need for it mostly being based out of necessity,) but now we meet each other every morning to help get our day started on the right foot. For me, coffee time = bliss!
So when I mosey into the kitchen in the morning to pour myself a cup, the biggest thing that turns my sleepy frown upside down is knowing that I’m pouring Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend in my cup! (It’s the best part of waking up, ya know!) 😉
My number 1 choice is Folgers Coffeehouse Blend because its medium-dark roast blend is so smooth, yet packs in a distinct bold taste that just warms my soul! So many other coffee blend flavors get drowned out when you add sweeteners and creamers, but the flavor in Folgers Coffeehouse Blend always stands out! It’s even perfect to use in a french press, as a cold brew or to brew over ice.
Life with coffee by my side in the morning is great, but earlier last week I was thinking I wanted to take our friendship a little further. You know, like maybe go on a little date together during the mid afternoon? This mama was so very tired, and she needed something new and exciting to wake her up from her afternoon slump and put some pep back in her step! I wanted to take my beloved cup of Folgers Coffee and transform it into something extraordinary (and extra sweet, too!)
That’s when it hit me: I wanted, no, NEEDED an iced frappe milkshake in my life. But not just any frappe – a Mocha Mint Frappe Shake, with extra coffee, chocolate and cream on top!
So I headed out to my local Publix store to stock up on more Folgers Coffeehouse Blend Coffee (because I knew once I made this shake, it’d probably become a new staple in my daily afternoon routine. Just being honest with myself, here!)
Once I got home, I wasted no time in preparing my shake. First, I filled an ice cube tray with some freshly brewed coffee and froze it to make coffee ice cubes. These are the secret weapons that make this Mocha Mint Frappe Shake SO insanely delicious! They make that bold coffee flavor really shine through!
Next up, I grabbed 1/2 cup scoop chocolate ice cream and 1/2 cup scoop mint chocolate chip ice cream to make the shake extra sweet and creamy. I added 6 coffee ice cubes, the ice creams and 1 cup milk to my blender and blended until it was smooth. I poured about half of the contents into a tall glass and added a layer of chocolate syrup before adding the remaining contents to my glass. I topped it off with a layer of whipped cream and a few crushed peppermints, and it. was. AH-MAZING!
Here’s a full printable version of the recipe if you’d like to give it a try:
- Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend coffee - brewed and frozen into ice cubes
- ½ cup chocolate ice cream
- ½ cup mint chocolate chip ice cream
- 1 cup milk
- Chocolate syrup
- Whipped cream
- Crushed mints for garnish (optional)
- Pour Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend into an ice tray and freeze.
- Place 6 coffee ice cubes, ice creams and milk into a blender and blend until smooth
- Pour shake into a glass about half way full
- Pour a small amount of chocolate syrup into glass
- Pour more of the shake on top of the layer of chocolate syrup
- Add whipped topping and crushed mints on top (if desired)
This shake was the perfect way to have my afternoon coffee, but enjoy it in a whole new and fun way. It’s definitely a decadent treat to indulge in, and the Folgers Coffeehouse flavors shining throughout the shake make it truly one of the most delicious beverages I’ve ever had!
