To take our mashed potatoes to the next level, I reach for Smithfield® Anytime Favorites® Diced Ham found at my local Publix. Growing up, I distinctly remember that if there was ham on our dinner table, you didn’t have to look very far to find the bowl of mashed potatoes to go with it. Ham and potatoes just go together like peas and carrots in my mind, so they are a must-have when I make these mini trifles for the family!
In addition to being the star element of these Cheesy Ham and Mashed Potato Trifles, Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham is my favorite secret weapon to keep in my fridge at all times, because both of my girls devour it any time it’s on their plate! They both call them “baby hams,” and they’ll gobble them up no matter what time of day it is! I love it because no matter how busy or hectic my day gets, I can always count on it to help me create a flavorful meal in a snap – anytime, anywhere. It’s where real food meets real life, and it’s the real MVP of our weeknight dinners!
Making these Cheesy Ham and Mashed Potato Trifles is as easy as 1-2-3! Simply decide what your favorite mashed potato toppings are and layer them into small glass jars – no dinner plate required! I layered a bed of creamy mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham, another layer of cheese, mashed potatoes, sour cream, brown gravy and a few chopped green onions for garnish. They’re easy to customize to your family’s preferences, and they come together in mere minutes!

Keep your eyes open for their other variety of cuts, too, such as cubed ham, sliced ham, ham steaks and boneless pork chops! Cheesy Ham and Mashed Potato Trifles
Ingredients
- 1 package Diced Ham Smithfield® Anytime Favorites
- Instant mashed potatoes prepared according to package instructions
- cheddar cheese shredded
- Prepared gravy
- Sour cream
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Using jelly-sized jars, spoon a layer of prepared mashed potatoes into the bottom for the base
- Add a layer of shredded cheese, followed by a layer of Smithfield Anytime Favorites Diced Ham and another layer of mashed potatoes.
- Top with sour cream, gravy, diced onions or your favorite mashed potato toppings
- Enjoy!
