Do you feel it? That slight change in the morning air? You know, that tiny little preview of Summer fading into Fall when the temperatures start changing? Even though it was for a very, very brief moment this morning, I finally felt it. It’s been long awaited, and it was definitely warmly welcomed. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. Sure, the cool weather, cozy long sleeved shirts and boots and all of the pumpkin flavored things are great, but my heart loves this time of year for one thing in particular:
Football
The excitement that football season brings is unlike any other. Here in the South, football is bigger than big, and the devotion to our teams is unmatched. The hometown and state rivalries are beginning to gear up. Football schedules are going up on the refrigerator and everyone is making plans to tailgate, throw a get-together or crowd around the couch to catch all of the big games this year. Yup, when I caught that brief, cool breeze this morning, I definitely felt it. Football season is upon us, y’all!
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls… Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!?!
Fair warning: Things are about to get real serious up in here. When my team steps out on the field, you better believe we’re grubbing on something delicious while we watch the game. When it comes to football and food, my family likes to keep it in the big leagues!
When I started planning out our football party menu for this season, I knew I needed to get my head in the game and bring out the snacks and drinks that fans would really love! My family loves to spice things up a bit when it comes to game day foods, and what better way to kick off the start of the season than with these delicious Touchdown Taco Cups!
Instead of going a more traditional route and making a party dip, I thought these taco cups would be a great way to avoid people gathering around the dip bowl and instead give them their own taco dip in a cup to walk around with. These are super easy to pre-make like I did, OR you can really get creative and make a taco cup bar where guests and party-goers can create their own taco cups! Just pile up all of your favorite toppings and you’re good to go!
If you have a taco cup in one hand, you’ve got to have something great to wash it all down with. When I go to the store to pick up game day snacks, I specifically break for Coca-Cola™ products, and of course the Wise Chips to pair with everything else. 😉
Did you know that Family Dollar is a great place to stock up on snacks and drinks for the family? Their variety of Wise chips was WAY larger than I expected it to be! I felt like I had so many options! And the prices were phenomenal. I picked up the tortilla chips that I needed to go with the taco cups, but I also picked up several other flavors because they were on mega sale!
When you walk in to your local Family Dollar, just head straight towards the chip and drink aisles to find the Wise snacks and Coca-Cola products. Some stores even have a special one-stop game day display with the duo already paired together, so keep your eyes peeled!
The fact that the dip is in it’s own little cup and not plopped on a plate makes it way easier to scoop up with chips! These Wise tortilla chips were delicious and very sturdy. They make PERFECT dip chips, and their other varieties of chips are delicious as well!
My favorite thing about these taco cups is that the possibilities are endless when it comes to what you put in them. I think next time I make them I might add in a layer of refried beans and a layer of quinoa!
Here’s a free printable copy of the recipe for these taco cups for your to enjoy. Let your own imagination run wild with it!

My family was so excited to dig right into these taco cups. They were a huge hit! The ice cold fizz in my cup of Sprite (my favorite Coca-Cola product) was like the icing on the cake. My husband is more of a classic Coca-Cola guy, so he really appreciated me picking up a 12-pack for him. We’re all geared up and ready for football to finally kick off! Now if only this weather would go ahead and cool down just a tad bit more we’d really be set!
Whether you’re cheering for the home team in the bleachers, on the couch or at a football party, make sure your’e snacking like a champ with Coca-Cola and Wise chips! And if you’re bringing a dish to the celebration, why not make these delicious taco cups to share with the other fans? You’ll really score a few extra points, then! 😉
What sort of game-day snacks or meals do you like to munch on during football season? What would your Touchdown Taco Cup look like if you were to add your own favorite ingredients?

This is definitely a brilliant idea because our friends are always just gathering around the kitchen island or table for snacks. It’s great to have individual cups! {client}

Did you serve Taco cups cold since they were made ahead of time? Thanks
Laura Tucker says
They are just fine served cold or slightly warm. I hope you enjoy them!
Danielle Mitchell says
Can you make them the day before? Thanks!!
Laura Tucker says
Hi Danielle, you can prep some of the ingredients the day before, but I would not assemble them until the day you serve them.
