It’s no secret that football in the south is a pretty big deal. Everyone is always counting down the days until their favorite team kicks off the first game of the year, and couples are busy planning their wedding ceremonies around game times on Saturday afternoons. I personally know people who have named their children after famous football coaches, and every Friday night you can find these football fanatics filling the bleachers at their local high school football stadium to cheer on their hometown teams.
This year in particular is a really special year for this football fanatic, because there just so happens to be a VIP representing our hometown team in a really big way! My sweet cousin will be standing on the sidelines leading the crowd in our favorite chants and cheers as a junior varsity cheerleader, and I couldn’t be more proud of her! (She’s the one in the middle – isn’t she just lovely?!)
Cheer has been a huge part of her life since she was just a tiny little tot. She’s fearlessly devoted to the sport of cheer, and she puts in countless hours throughout the year practicing and perfecting her cheers and routines so she can cheer on the guys on the field to a victory!
And with all of that hard work comes a pretty serious appetite, so on game days I make sure my freezer is stocked with Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Pizzas!
Tony’s Pizza is my go-to on game days to make for a winning feast fit to fuel us fans in the stands and the girls on the sidelines! And speaking of winning, you can enter to win some AH-MAZING prizes by playing the #WinWithTonysPizza sweepstakes below!

In addition to serving up slices of Tony’s Pizza, I also like to make sure we’re all getting in our vegetables to add in the extra nutrients our bodies really need. Feeling a little inspired by my favorite pizza toppings, I decided it would be fun to pile ’em up onto a skewer and throw them on the grill!
The best thing about making Grilled Pizza Kabobs is that there’s no right or wrong way to make them. Just pick up your favorite pizza toppings at the store, chop them up and let them sizzle! For me, I really love fresh peppers, pineapple, onions, sausage, tomatoes and pepperoni on my pizza. So, onto the skewers they went!
While I was shopping at my local Walmart earlier this week, I made sure to load up the shopping cart with lots of fresh veggies, plus a few boxes of Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Pepperoni Pizza and Tony’s® Pizzeria Style MEAT-TRIO® Pizza so we’d be stocked and ready for Friday and Saturday night to roll around.
Choosing Tony’s Pizza for my family is a no-brainer for me. It’s always delicious, is ready in about 20 minutes, and it’s made with 100% real mozzarella cheese, so I know no matter what variety I pick out, it’s going to be awesome! Plus, the pizzeria style recipe that Tony’s uses always makes me want to come back for more. It’s light, crispy, and gives you the perfect amount of crunch that you look for when you bite into the crust!
So when game time rolled around, I heated up the oven and fired up the grill so my cousin could fill up on some good game day grub before kickoff started. She really loves Tony’s® Pizzeria Style Pepperoni Pizza, so I popped it in the oven and then prepped the pizza skewers to go onto the grill!
While the pizza kabobs were grilling, I melted 1/2 stick butter and stirred in a little bit of Italian seasoning to baste over the vegetables while they were cooking. Butter and herb sauce always makes me think of pizza, so it was a perfect addition to make the pizza flavors in the kabobs really pop!
I cooked the pizza kabobs for about 4-5 minutes on each side, though cook time will vary depending on what toppings you choose. Since I added pieces of sausage in my kabobs, I had to watch and make sure they cooked all the way through. You can find a full recipe with cooking instructions below!

It makes my heart so happy to see my cousin all smiles before each game, and I love having Tony’s Pizzas on hand for her to eat before she changes into her uniform to cheer on her friends. She also really loved the pizza kabobs as a side dish, and she can’t wait for next week so we can do it all again!
Living in a very small and rural area, our community is centered around the local school and all of the events that take place there. I love seeing all of us come together to support all of the athletes and show our school spirit every Friday night when the athletes takes the field. It takes an army to make game days come together and to be really special, and I’m glad I can have a small part in that by sharing a delicious meal with my favorite athlete of all!
