From 2008-2012, I spent my days as an undergraduate student studying business administration with a focus in marketing. Just like with any major, there are a slew of classes you have to take that don’t necessarily pertain specifically to your major, but are put in place to help you become more “well-rounded” in your field of study. The summer of my junior year, I registered for a class called Personal Selling. I admit to rolling my eyes a bit when I discovered it was a mandatory class, as I knew I didn’t want to be caught up in sales for a career, but my favorite marketing professor was teaching it, so I thought that it might not be too bad.
And as it turns out, it wasn’t bad at all. If anything, I left that class confirming what I felt I knew all along – I definitely didn’t want to do sales, even though I did have the highest average in the class. (Sometimes it’s okay to toot your own horn. Toot toot!) However, my professor pounded so much good information in our heads that I remember to this day, and for that I am so incredibly grateful!
I’ll never forget the day he opened up his lecture with the importance of a business card. In fact, he spent the entire class period talking about nothing but business cards and the appropriate way to give them out. He even broke down his handshake technique and how to slide in the business card without being awkward or cheesy. At the time I thought it was a little bit silly, but looking back – it was brilliant! After all, a business card in a hand can often be the first impression of your business!
Flash forward to present day, and I’ve put much of my marketing and entrepreneurial knowledge to good use and built my own personal business from the ground up. While my job looks completely different from the typical 8-5, I still walk into my office with my brand name behind my head every single day and interact with clients and marketing agencies to promote other businesses and products that I love. I’m often asked about what my field of work entails, and one of the easiest ways for me to explain is to hand them a business card with my website so they can take a look for themselves.
When designing my business cards, style and price were two major deciding factors for me. I fell in love with all of the design options available at Basic Invite, and the price point was perfect for my budget! I was able to choose from foil business cards, clear plastic business cards, cards with my own personal photography on them, and cards featuring my own logo. I wanted to keep my design sleek and simple, and with a little help from their amazing customer service representative, I was able to easily add my blog logo and create the perfect business card for me!
Their different business card collections are absolutely stunning, and I love how the foil business cards pictured above and the clear plastic business cards pictured below really make a beautiful and unique statement! If you’re curious about how your own business cards would look using either of these options, you can select custom samples of your draft to be printed and sent to you so you can see and feel them in person. Basic Invite is one of the few companies that provides that service, and I think it really puts them a step ahead of the rest!
Basic Invite is also one of the few online stationery companies that allows customers to choose from almost unlimited color options, too! When working with a designer at Basic Invite, he had the brilliant idea of using a color scheme for my business cards that was very similar to the color scheme of my website. He was super helpful in creating the perfect card to represent myself and my business, and his eye for detail was fantastic!
In addition to business cards, you can customize or create all sorts of stationery products for nearly every event you can think of, including invitations, thank you cards, stickers, envelopes, announcements, programs and so much more! Their selection of quality products is truly amazing, and I highly recommend them for any printing services you may need!
