Last night was a dream. Seeing Nickel Creek perform live is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a teen. I cried when they came out on stage, I got chills as they intro’d each song, and I sang their songs back at the top of my lungs. My husband made sure I was front row for it all (with VIP passes - I think he likes me 😏) and I still cannot get over it. I know I never will. Thank you for an incredible night. ❤️

There’s been a lot of moments in the last year where it felt like the rain would just never stop. Life felt pretty heavy and I swear I aged 7 years in the last 7 months. You’ve held my hand through it all, and you’re infinitely more than I deserve. I love you endlessly.

Happy Anniversary, love. 11 years married, 18 years together. ❤️

Well. I guess this is my entire personality now. 🤷🏻‍♀️🐓😂

We decided to try our hand at raising chickens this year. We started out with nine, then tragically lost 3 of them two weeks ago. I was far more heartbroken than I thought I’d ever be over the loss of a chicken.

This week we brought home 10 more baby chicks to raise, and I honestly am shocked at how calm and peaceful they make me feel. I used to be terrified of chickens, but turns out I just needed to let go of fear and let my love run. And, truly - I love them so much. ❤️

Also, it’s the way that I can hand my husband my phone and say, “Here, take my picture holding this chicken“ and he doesn’t even laugh or question the madness. What a good man. 😂

We sold our first 3D printed item 2 years ago today just guessing that it *might* work out and we’d make a few Etsy sales. 🤷🏻‍♀️

21,000+ orders, products sold in one retail store in a different state and a brand new workshop later, all I can do is simultaneously laugh and cry that it actually worked out. I don’t know exactly what I’m doing with all of these 3D printers, but I’m glad to be doing this. ❤️

Thank you to those that have supported our small business along the way. You’re the best!

Irish eyes are smiling over my girls in the CUTEST St. Patrick’s Day hair bows from our favorite bow shop - @southernbelleslikebigbows!

The girls squealed with joy when they opened up their new shamrock hair bows. They’ll definitely be pinch-proof all month long!

It’s fun to show you the crazy and weird things I find while thrifting, but it’s even BETTER when I show you the fun finds!

This “vintage” Disney mug was sitting on the shelf waiting for me to come along. Instant nostalgia. I brought her home, cleaned her up, and immediately put on A Goofy Movie and drank my 3rd cup of coffee from her like any sensible millennial would do 😂

Would you have grabbed it for 99 cents?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it forever- @southernbelleslikebigbows has the BEST selection of hair bows and my girls absolutely love getting a new bow for each holiday!

My girls were swooning over their new Valentine’s Day monogrammed hair bows that just came in the mail. There’s still time to order and receive in time for Valentine’s Day!

We moved our 3D printing operation into our spare bedroom at the end of 2021 because we needed more space for our business. Our goal was to transform my husband’s workshop into a space to house all of our 3D printers and to build him a bigger stand-alone shop.

We had 6 printers at the start of 2022. Today we have 14. Tomorrow, we’re finally busting out of our spare bedroom and moving this operation into its own space. The room is finally finished and my husband has his own amazing stand alone workshop. Paid in full. 🙌🏻

This room saw close to 20,000 Etsy orders. Thousands of packages were shipped out of this room. Lots of printing wins and printing failures. Machines tearing up, finger injuries galore and a few not-so-nice words flying out my mine and my husband’s mouths. It’s been a year. Today I took a photo in this room for the final time before we convert it back to a bedroom for friends and family to be able to use again.

I’m so excited, so grateful and pretty darn proud of what we’ve done. Moving it all seems a little daunting, but I’m ready! Let’s go! 💪🏻🙌🏻

We tested these charms out at the Alabama Pyrex Swap back in November to see how y’all would respond to them, and we were thrilled that they were a HIT! Today is launch day for these in our Etsy shop, and we have several designs to choose from!

If you’re into vintage Pyrex, you can snag one of these charms to pop right into the holes of your Bogg Bag or Simply Southern tote to give it a little vintage flair. 🛍️ 😍

My vintage collection grew quite a bit in 2022. Here’s a snippet of a few things I found that I am using in my Valentine’s Day decor this year! ❤️

The vintage Valentine cards are my favorite. They have names on the back and are so cute I can barely stand it. 😍

Happy New Year 🥂

Here’s a gentle nudge to reach out to a therapist this year if there is something you need help with, or if life just feels heavy and you need to lay things out to someone who is a listening and unbiased ear. Doing it alone only works until you run out of gas, and continuously running on fumes is bad for you all around.

For some reason I walked away from therapy in 2022 because I thought I was doing fine. And maybe in the moment I was, but I’ve been running on fumes and I noticed I wasn’t handling small inconveniences very well. My husband has been dealing with a different version of myself for a few months now (gah, he’s such a patient and loving soul), so I’m eager to get back into therapy this month and work on some things I’m struggling with.

And if that’s something you need, too, I hope you’re able to take that step. ❤️

Before I get into this - I want you to know something.

For some people, setting goals at the beginning of the year is stressful and triggering for various reasons. I was that way for a long time. And that’s okay. It took a while for me to realize that I don’t have to start my goals at the beginning of the year, nor do I have to knock them out by the end of January. It’s all a process that is meant to take time, and for me it’s much less stressful to take it slow and truly spread it out over the duration of the year.

It also took me years to realize I wasn’t a failure if I didn’t “check” something off of my list. It’s okay to change through out the year and go at the pace you need to. That’s called growth, my friends. Whether you make “goals” or decide not to, it’s all good and you are awesome. ❤️

2022 was a lot for my family. That’s the best way I know how to word it. So I’m choosing to focus on it through just the lens of goals I set in the kitchen for this particular post. I love to cook. I love being in the kitchen. I love to learn and go with the flow and at my own pace. I made some pretty radical changes this year that I’m proud of, and those changes set a pretty solid foundation for the upcoming year.

Here are a few of my goals pertaining to my time in the kitchen in 2023:

- 100% fresh milled whole grains.
I haven’t bought bread since July of this year. Milling our own flour and making bread from scratch has been amazing, and I’m ready to go all the way with it in the new year.
- Become more comfortable baking various artisan breads
- Experiment with sourdough
- Study up on fermentation
- Create a more sustainable kitchen
- Reduce food waste
- Start a compost
- Reduce use of single use plastics (I’m having a hard time parting with my Zip-Loc bags)
-Raise chickens. (This is a big one that feels a little crazy to me - but I’m ready for the ride)

If you’re into goal setting, what’s one goal you’re hoping to achieve in 2023?

Well.

To be fair, she told me before school that day that she didn’t want to see Santa and didn’t want to smile for her picture with him.

But dang it if my child didn’t fully commit. She went ALL the way with that pout. She achieved the poutiest pout of all the pouts in the history of life. She clinched her hands when handed a present by Santa himself because she doesn’t have time for his shenanigans.

That girl was not having any of it.

And when I tell you I laughed until I CRIED when I pulled these photos out of her backpack - I absolutely needed this photo. I NEEDED it. I love it so much and will cherish it forever.

I mean, the absolute SHADE she is casting. It’s a big mood and I cannot wait to turn this photo into an ornament to hang on my tree every year for the rest of my life. And then gift more of the same ornaments to her and her children one day.

It’s iconic. What a legend.
