Preheat oven to 350
Generously grease the inside rings of a doughnut baking pan with butter or shortening to prevent sticking
In a large bowl, combine 3 Tbs melted butter with 3/4 cup brown sugar until thoroughly mixed
Stir in egg and vanilla
Add heavy whipping cream, flour and baking powder and stir until well combined
Transfer batter into piping bag and pipe one layer of batter into each doughnut hole in the baking pan
Add 4-5 M&M’S® Caramel candies into the batter and pipe another layer of dough over the candy - tins should be about 2/3 of the way full
Bake for 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of a doughnut comes out clean
Allow to set on a wire rack to cool completely before adding caramel glaze
To make caramel glaze:
In a sauce pan over medium/low heat, melt together butter and brown sugar and stir
Once the butter is melted, add in cream and vanilla and bring to a boil - stirring constantly
Allow to boil for about 3 minutes while stirring constantly and then remove from heat
Add in powdered sugar and stir until well combined
Dip the top of each doughnut into the glaze or drizzle glaze over each doughnut with a spoon
Top each doughnut with additional M&M’S® Caramel candies and shaved chocolate flakes if desired
