Over the long 4th of July weekend, I caught myself looking at photos that I took of my daughter during this time last year. I set them beside a photo that I had just taken of her that day, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw how much of a transformation my baby girl had made in just 1 short year. Instead of shooting off fireworks, my emotions decided to cue the waterworks instead as I was reminded that my little baby is no longer a baby anymore.
Instead of being sad, I decided to rejoice in the blessing that she is and marvel at her extraordinary personality that is filled with curiosity, imagination and sparkling humor. She’s a vivacious little two year old who loves adventure, song and dance and curling up in my lap after playtime to journey through a good storybook. Watching the wheels turn in her head and the amazement on her face with every page I turn leaves no question in my mind that my little girl is growing and changing with every passing second. It’s a sweet reminder that change can be a beautiful thing, but to cherish every second while she’s still so little.
And as I began to reflect on her changes over the past year, I started to look around at her room where she spends so much of her playtime throughout the day. It became so evident that the nursery I decorated for her over 2 years ago before she was born no longer reflected her growing personality. She didn’t need a nursery anymore. She needed a space of her own that encourages imaginative play and adventure, but also a space that offered sweet simplicity where she could rest, wind down and snuggle up with a book before her nap time.

The first piece from the Summer Storytime collection to transform my toddler’s bedroom was this beautiful framed art piece. The colors in this collection are so vibrant and stunning, but not so bright that they make the space feel busy. The pretty little colorful flowers add a splash of fun to her room, and the white frame ties in perfectly with her bedroom furniture. You can choose the framed art in small, medium or large prints with either a black or white frame. I chose the large print and hung it in a spot where it’s the very first thing the eye sees when you walk into the room.
The Summer Storytime collection also includes a plush throw pillow that depicts the fun little characters gathered around together to read a story. I placed this pillow in the spot in her bedroom where I love to read stories to her. The throw pillow is firm (but certainly soft enough to cuddle with) and is very high quality. It’s definitely going to be a piece my daughter cherishes for years to come!
The Summer Storytime collection also includes a beautiful lamp and wall clock, which are perfect for lighting up our story time sessions and reminding us that any time is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and use our imaginations!
The final piece included in the collection is this gorgeous sherpa throw blanket that my little love wasted NO time curling up in. The outer layer is so smooth and luxurious, and the underside is a soft and fluffy material that you just can’t help but run your fingers across. Aside from it being the perfect nap time accessory, it’s also perfect for spreading across the floor and rolling around on!
Because we currently live in an older home, space has been a very big issue for our growing family. The closet in my daughter’s room is currently occupied by her father’s clothing, so we had to use our imaginations and get creative with a storage solution for her clothing. We repurposed an old bookcase and turned it into her own wardrobe! We’ll be moving into our brand new home in just 3 short months, and we can’t wait to incorporate this Mouse + Magpie collection into her new space!

My husband and I spent one morning during the weekend transforming Taralynn’s bedroom while she was away playing at Grandma’s house. She squealed with SO much joy when she first walked in, and she instantly walked over to her bed and rubbed her hand across the blanket. She played and giggled and played some more until I noticed her starting to rub her sleepy little eyes.
I wasted no time in grabbing one of her favorite story books and curling up with her beside her bed. She closed her sweet little eyes and napped the rest of the afternoon. After her nap, those eyelids popped back open and her heart was filled with that beautiful childlike wonder all over again!
