I’ll never forget the moment I watched my little girl fall head over heels in love with the water. On one of our annual family beach trips years ago, I carried my toddler out from under our umbrella and up to the shore to let her feel the waves rush across her feet. Fearing she’d be intimidated by the water, I held her back quite a bit. Little did I know, that was the very beginning of a deep love connection that I couldn’t restrain! She giggled, squealed with joy, clapped her hands and could not contain her excitement any longer. She hopped out of my arms and into the water without a fear in the world. It was quite a sight to see!
And since that first encounter, this little fish of mine is instantly thrilled by any body of water she encounters. Swimming pools, ocean waves, mud puddles – you name it, and she’s diving right in! Even though she loves the water, she isn’t ready to hit the pool without a little assistance swimming. With International Learn to Swim Day this weekend (May 18th, 2019,) we’re finalizing our plans on how to make the biggest splash this summer by brushing up on our swimming skills with swimming lessons!
We’ve been working with her one-on-one over the years to help her build her confidence in the water. Though she’s never been fearful of jumping in and making a splash, it didn’t take her long to realize she couldn’t tread above water on her own. To help her stay afloat, we use the SwimWays Paw Patrol Swim Trainers from Target! We’ve trusted SwimWays products in the pool with her since she was a baby. SwimWays is an industry leader in helping children learn to swim and promoting water safety.
The Paw Patrol Swim Trainer is Swim Step 2 in the Swim Ways Swim Step program, and I love that it allows her hands to move freely and position herself to where she can extend her legs to kick and glide through the water with ease. We’re so lucky to have friends and family members in our community with swimming pools, and I know we’ll be having an endless amount of pool-time fun this summer! We’re also excited to celebrate International Learn to Swim Day, which was founded by SwimWays in 2012 and is dedicated to educating parents and children about water safety and the benefits of learning how to swim.
My little minnow was absolutely thrilled to see characters from the Paw Patrol on her new swim trainer from Target, and I believe having her favorite pup (Skye) on her float has helped her confidence in the water grow even stronger! You can also find Chase featured on a SwimWays Paw Patrol Swim trainer, too!
How will you be making a splash on International Learn to Swim Day? As pools all across the nation begin to open up this month, now is the time to educate and familiarize yourself with safe swim practices, and if you’ve got a child in the beginning stages of learning how to swim like me, swing by your local Target and grab a new SwimWays Paw Patrol Swim trainer to help them out! They’ll be ready to dive into the water in no time at all!
